Born in 1985, Yuni went through several internships in women’s radio Women Radio, as guest presenter in 2005 and Indonesian national television formerly LATIVI (now TV ONE) in 2006, before seriously becoming a journalist. Yuni tried different work nature in sales department of a Chinese company after which time decided to join Okezone in 2007. Yuni earned her bachelor in communications from the London School of Public Relations Jakarta.
Born in 1969, Widhie firstly joined the then government-controlled, now public radio RRI in 1991 as news sound editor, then moving up to becoming news editor, presenter, program planner, and currently chief editor. Among the training Widhie has received are broadcasting management from Swedish Radio, and radio courses from the Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development and BBC World Service Trust. Widhie earned his bachelor in law from University of Indonesia.
Ms. Alviana Masrifah is the foreign affairs editor with Seputar Indonesia. She started her career as a journalist with Jawa Pos (based in Surabaya, Indonesia in East Java) covering metropolitan Jakarta for economic, national, entertainment, and international issues. She then moved to the Jawa Pos group in 2005 as a journalist covering international issues. Alviana built up her journalism career at Seputar Indonesia where she was appointed as the assistant editor for Seputar Indonesia’s East Java edition for two years. Alviana is now holding two positions at Seputar Indonesia: the junior editor for international desk, and the junior editor for a weekly edition called TODAY Seputar Singapore. TODAY Seputar Singapore is a joint section between Seputar Indonesia and TODAY daily, one of leading dailies in Singapore.
Mr. Tri Subhki Rakhmatullah joined Koran Jakarta seven months ago, and is the assistant editor on the international news desk. Previous to Koran Jakarta, Tri worked two years at the international desk at Seputar Indonesia. Tri obtained his bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Sebelas Maret University in Surakarta, Central Java in 2005.
Muhammad Rusma is the foreign affairs journalist with Rakyat Merdeka, and has been with the newspaper since September 1999. He graduated from Syarif Hidayatullah Islamic State University (UIN) in 1999 with his bachelor’s degree, and in 2006 for his post-graduate degree. Muhammad has had experience in covering national and international news such as the 2004 tsunami disaster in Aceh, the conflict between the Indonesian Government and Free Aceh Movement (GAM) and the corresponding Helsinki peace accords. He had also the opportunity to exclusively interview Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla. Muhammad is an active member of the Independent Journalist Association (AJI), which is an association of young, Indonesian journalists with the mission protect press freedoms in Indonesia.
Mr. Simon Saragih has been the Assistant Editor for International News Desk at Kompas since 2002. He has been with the publication since 1989 with economic news in his portfolio. In 1988, he received his degree in economics from Gadjah Madah University in Yogyakarta, and he received his MBA from Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) in a joint program with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2001 to 2002.
Born in Washington, D.C. 1982, Rizki spent her childhood in Indonesia, Netherlands, and Germany. She received her bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Indonesia, Jakarta, and also earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Queensland, Australia. Rizki also received her post graduate studies in psychology at University of Indonesia. Freshly graduated, Rizki joined Trans TV in 2005.
Christie Natalia Siagian a.k.a. Lia Christie is an anchor in a nationwide radio network called Trijaya FM in Indonesia. She is responsible for producing some radio programs including prime time programs. She takes charge in production of some joint-programs conducted by Trijaya FM with foreign partnes such as VOA and some programs previously funded by Mr. Donald Trump. Christie, who was born on Sept 23, 1977, got her degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Bandung Institute of Technology. She got interested in radio broadcasting in 2003.
Mr. Sulastomo previously was on the management side of Pelita before he was appointed Editor-in-Chief in 2007. He graduated with a degree in medicine from the University of Indonesia in 1964, Indonesia’s top university. He received his master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Hawaii. He was a member of the Indonesian Delegation in the Organization of Islamic Conference in Lahore in 1974, in Jeddah in 1975, in Kuala Lumpur in 1976, and in Istanbul in 1997. He is the author of “Reform: Between Hope and Reality,” and “The Indonesian Dream.”
Vanny has been with Global TV for two years. Born in 1972, Vanny spent her childhood in Bandung, West Java, and earned her bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Trisakti University, Jakarta. Before starting her career in television journalism in 2003, Vanny was a freelance interior designer and staffer of promotion with an internet media company. Vanny was with private channels Metro TV, TPI, and the defunct LATIVI consecutively until 2005. After a year of developing as a freelance photographer, she joined Global TV in 2006. Vanny has been involved in various environmental/natural preservation research projects of national parks with Indonesian Ministry of Environment. She is also involved in developing camping guide books for various mountain range tourist resorts. Occasionally Vanny also models for TV commercials.
